Police in Solwezi have arrested a 52 year old man a for being in possession of gold nuggets without a license.
According to North western province Commissioner of police Joe Njase, the suspect is Peruvian by nationality and identified him as CRUZ ZAPATA AMERICO BERNABE of street number 26 Hillside Chililabombwe also holder of National Registration Card number 570388/99/3.
He disclosed that the suspect was travelling from Solwezi to Chingola using a Nissan Patrol twin cab pickup white in color with registration number ABL 2353.
“Police made a follow up and the said Motor Vehicle was intercepted at Kapijimpanga Police Check point and suspect was brought to Solwezi Central Police for interrogation,” explained Mr Njase.
He said after interrogation, the suspect was found with a gold nugget weighing 50 grams which was hidden in his blue laptop bag.
“The suspect is in police custody pending court appearance,” he added.
