ZAMBIAN renowned international model, businesswoman and socialite Alice Rowlands Musukwa last week finished in the Top 15 at the Mrs. World 2022 competition held in Las Vegas, United States of America.
Musukwa, who is 2010 Miss Universe Zambia winner represented the country at this prestigious global stage which saw Shaylyn Ford from USA win the title.
Reaching Top 15 in a huge international competition has given Musukwa great joy as she is the first Zambian to take part in the pageant that was formed in 1984.
Mrs. World is a prestigious beauty pageant that involves married women hence the title ‘Mrs.’. It draws worldwide participation and Musukwa is proud of the achievement.
Out of 94 contestants worldwide, only 41 managed to travel to the USA for the main event because of COVID-19 travel restrictions.
Having had the chance to fly the Zambian flag there, Musukwa had promised her supporters and her country that she would put in her best.
“I am actually the first representative at the Mrs. World(from Zambia) and the first Zambian to get into top 15 at one of the Top 5 pageants, this is huge,” she cheerfully stated.
And Musukwa said she made it a point while in the competition to promote Zambia. This she did by ensuring her competition dress was acquired from Zambia.
” I decided not to buy anything outside Zambia. I wanted to support local designers,” Musukwa said, naming Dotty by Donalia as designers behind her magical competition dress.
” With this achievement, I would like to encourage a lot of women out there not to give up on their careers because of marriage. Marriage is not the end of the world,” Musukwa advised.
Despite not getting support from the government, Musukwa said she felt the love and support of the majority Zambians on social media and in person, Zambians in the Diaspora travelled from different states to support her in Las Vegas.
