ZRA Commissioner General Dr. Kingsley Chanda says the Authority is committed to engage with the National Arts Council of Zambia and come up with tax Solutions and initiatives that will be beneficial to all stakeholders.
Dr. Chanda has emphasized that the Authority will ensure that current taxes do not disadvantage the sector.
He has also encouraged the industry to familiarize itself with current tax incentives that Government has put on offer to the arts.
Dr. Chanda was speaking today in Lusaka at the first ever stakeholders meeting with the entertainment industry that included the National Arts Council, National Media Arts and Film Makers Guild of Zambia
And National Arts council of Zambia Acting Chairperson, Agnes Nyendawa is hopeful that her members cry to revisit the way Arts’ income is taxed will come to fruition.
Lawrence Thompson of the Film Makers Guild of Zambia says his industry benefit and compete internationally if it receives exemptions on the importation of Film making equipment.
At the same function, Besa Kyanamina of Centripetal Media Zambia said the meeting has brought new hope to the industry, which currently employs a lot of youths.
