Hundreds of investors last evening attended the gala dinner hosted by UPND South Africa Chapter to share investment opportunities available in Zambia.
Addressing investors during a fundraising dinner hosted by UPND South Africa Chapter in Sandton, last evening UPND Secretary General Batuke Imenda said he and his team were in South Africa to fundraise and share the abundant investment opportunities available in Zambia.
“The new dawn administration has created a conducive environment or business opportunities because President Hakainde Hichilema is a n economist who understands too well all variables needed to promote the private sector,” said Mr. Batuke.
Many investors across South Africa have been meeting Mr. Batuke’s six man delegation to discuss the available business opportunities with many pledging to invest in Zambia following the conducive environment created by President Hichilema.
Speaking at the same occasion UPND Treasurer General Watson Walumba says Zambia is not landlocked but land-linked because it is surrounded by nine countries with good road networks which can be used to export goods produced.
Mr. Walumba said UPND Government will use Zambia’s location to export its processed goods to neighboring countries so as to create wealth needed to uplift the living standards of people.
“We have great opportunities of investments in Zambia, such as arable land, good for agriculture, abundant water bodies, Minerals such as Copper and Cobalt said to be the new petroleum for electric vehicles,” said Mr. Walumba
He gave an example of the abundant deposits of Copper and Cobalt in Zambia which is needed for the latest electric vehicles.
This excited the south Africans in attendance who pledged to invest in Zambia a country most of them referred to as their second home.
President for Zambia Association in South Africa, Ferdinard Simaanya thanked Mr. Imenda and his team for engaging South Africans in the available investment opportunities and pledged to continue marketing the country’s great potential in mining, agriculture, energy among others.
Mr. Simaanya also thanked ANC officials for agreeing to work with UPND in-order to foster development and share experiences of how a political party can survive without using government resources.
Mr. Batuke Imenda is accompanied by treasurer General Watson Walumba, Professional assistant to his office also secretary for the NMC/NEC Mark Simuuwe, SG’S Assistant Kingsley Nkonde, Mr. Mulaisho incharge of investments and Media Director Ruth Dante.
