ZAMBIA’S collapse in the World Cup qualifiers has resulted into the country tumbling two places at the FIFA World Ranking from 85th to 87th on the global standing.
Chipolopolo failed to improve their global rating after they had an uninspiring run in the World Cup qualifiers where they lie third in the group with four points.
Zambia beat Mauritania 2 – 1 in the opening game of the qualifiers but went on to lose to Tunisia at home before a 2 – 0 defeat to Equatorial Guinea in Malabo.
Any chances of redeeming themselves were extinguished when the team draw 1 – all against Equatorial Guinea at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka earlier this month.
In Africa, the country is ranked 18th.
Meanwhile Belgium have maintained their place as the best ranked national team in the world while Senegal are Africa’s best ranked team having managed to be in the top 20 on the global scale.
