Newly appointed Permanent Secretary for North Western Province Col Grandson Katambi has called on civil servants to be professional in order to efficiently deliver services to the people.
Addressing heads of government departments in Solwezi, Col Katambi said it is through the hard work of civil servants that people will be able to see Government at work.
He said failure by civil servants to perform their duties, will deny the people of development and the services that they need.
“I would like to implore you fellow civil servants to be committed because we come here to work. And if we offer services, the people of in the province will not complain,” said Col Katambi.
He said civil servants have the responsibility of fully participating in delivering the developmental agenda of the New Dawn Government.
He said government is in hurry to deliver on its campaign promises to the people of Zambia.
He said civil servants have the responsibility of delivering services to the people to the best of their abilities.
He has also called for civil servants to follow the laid down procedures and exercise discipline in carrying out their duties.
He said failure to follow the laid down procedures will result in erring officers facing disciplinary measures.
“Government procedures are very clear, and I therefore expect each one of us to abide by that,” he said.
And Col Katambi has counselled civil servants to desist from getting involved in partisan politics and tribal divisions.
He said Government will not condone civil servants who want to align themselves with opposition political parties.
“It is the UPND, headed by President Hakainde Hichilema that is in government, I therefore urge you all to be loyal to the government of the day,” he said.
