PATROTIC Front (PF) national chairperson Samuel Mukupa says the former President Edgar Lungu has not yet indicated whether he will continue as party president following his defeat to President Hakainde Hichilema in the August 12, general elections.
Mr. Mukupa described as falsehood reports making rounds on various social media platforms that Former President Lungu had stepped down as party leader. He said in an interview yesterday that the story should be treated with the contempt it deserved by all well-meaning Zambians.
“I know he (Mr. Lungu) is not taking us through all the way because that was his wish but he has not said that yet but will let us know but right now it is not to my knowledge that he has stepped down, that would have been the position by all Members of the Central Committee,” Mr. Mukupa said.
He said being the national chairperson of the party he was not aware that Mr. Lungu had decided not to continue as PF leader as he had not yet indicated he is the way forward. Mr. Mukupa said should there be any changes the public would be informed through the correct communication channels unlike making assumption.
