According to Cars Guide the new Toyota Land Cruisers SUV has been received with such adoration from fans, that there has been a run on the 2022 model by buyers. The situation is so grave that the auto maker might take four years to fill current order demands. The current global chip shortage is exasperating the situation.
Toyota started taking orders for the model in 2nd August, 2021 and received an overwhelming 20,000 orders. In Japan around 90 percent of the orders are for the ZX and GR sports trim, which are classes of the SUV that take the longest to deliver.
Due to a shortage of parts Toyota is halting production on the SUV for the better part of August and the whole of September. Because of this shortage global delivery for the 2022 SUV has been affected. One of the Land Cruisers biggest markets, Australia is only receiving demonstration units at the moment. Dealerships will only be receiving sales units later in the year.
The USA will not be receiving the Land Cruiser at all, The American market will only get the LX from Toyotas Luxury brand Lexus. According to Chris Bruce of motor1.com the chip shortage is threatening the launch until 2022 model in the USA.
