Government has increased the number of beneficiaries for the Social Cash Transfer from 4800 to 6069 households in Kabompo district.
Kabompo district commissioner Patrick Kasoka disclosed that government has continued to increase the number of beneficiaries so that more vulnerable people can benefit.
Mr. Kasoka confirmed the development shortly after witnessing and monitoring the payment exercise for July and August 2021 period at Chiweza primary school.
“I wish to confirm that the number of beneficiaries for the Social Cash transfer in the district has been increased, this is in an effort to reduce poverty among vulnerable households in the district,” he said.
He urged the beneficiaries to put the money to good use in order to reduce poverty at household level.
And Kabompo District Assistant Social Welfare Officer Nyasisa Soneka disclosed that the current payment exercise is for all five categories and that there is increase in the amounts.
“In this exercise, the aged are getting K600 and the rest are getting K300,” said Ms. Soneka.
She stated that the exercise is the normal regular activity planned for by the department.
And one of the beneficiary Jane Kalukung’u 68 thanked government for the programme saying it has helped her build a house and further pay their education.
