Nakonde Member of Parliament, Luka Simumba has described President Hakainde Hichilema’s parliamentary speech as half-baked.
He says the speech did not indicate how the UPND government will fulfil it’s many campaign promises to the Zambians.
Debating on the motion of thanks to the President’s speech on Thursday, Mr. Simumba told parliament that the people of Zambia are waiting for the many campaign promises made by the UPND.
He reminded the house that the UPND promised that once in power, the dollar would start trading at single digit, 30,000 doctors will be employed and the selling of the presidential jet will be done.
He has since challenged the UPND to fulfil their campaign promises adding that the minister of finance should take note of the promises he presents the 2022 national budget.
Mr Simumba said that the people of Nakonde are hoping that Mr Hichilema’s promise that the high percentage of revenue is ploughed back to Nakonde district and fulfill his promise to make it a taxi free zone.
He told the house that Nakonde border is the largest contributor to the treasury but the local people are not benefiting from the collected revenue.
