“HH and his UPND should not lie to Zambians and the world, it’s very embarrassing”

BY CYNTHIA NKHATA

The Binoculars tells us the Patriotic Front government left over US$3 billion in the reserves and claiming the coffers were depleted is misleading and wrong, Raphael Nakacinda says.
Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka this afternoon, Mr. Nakacinda says President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND should not mislead Zambians but be truthful on what was left in the national treasury.
The former Minister of Water Development Sanitation and Environmental Protection adds that for an incumbent President to make such allegations to the world leaves more damage of the country’s fiscal performance and investor confidence.
He notes that no investor can be willing to invest in a country whose fiscal status is questionable or bad.
He has since urged President Hichilema to instill investor confidence by painting a positive picture of Zambia.
And the former Minister has described the Hichilema government as “damaged on delivery” due to a number of problems they have so far created after assuming office.
He says from the evidenced appointment of personal and childhood friends by Mr. Hichilema into critical positions, appointment and elevation of a junior officer who served the incumbent President well while incarcerated as Commissioner of Correctional facility, are some of the fouls that qualify it damaged.
He says President Hakainde Hichilema is running a failing administration due to his failures to meet his dozen of promises while in opposition.
