Labour Commissioner GIVENS MUNTENGWA says his office will regulate Trade Unions within the provisions of the law.
Mr. MUNTENGWA has encouraged the unions to comply with all the laws as they conduct their business. He says this is in order to avoid being deregistered.
Mr. MUNTENGWA was speaking at the official opening of the Grain and Meat Workers Union of Zambia -GRAMUZ- two days quadrennial Congress being held in Lusaka.
And GRAMUZ president BLAKE MULALA said his union welcomes President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s promise to work with labour unions.
Mr. MULALA said labour unions were faced with victimization and political interference from the PF administration and are now happy that they can work freely.
Meanwhile Zambia Congress of Trade Unions -ZCTU- Secretary General COSMAS MUKUKA has urged unions to take advantage of the goodwill that is coming from the new government to amend bad laws.
The GRAMUZ quadrennial Congress, is being held under the theme: Organizing for workers rights, job protection and motivation incentives amidst the Covid-19 pandemic for enhanced productivity.
