ZAMBIA have been hit with injuries to two key players ahead of their match against Equatorial Guinea in Malabo on Thursday.
Team doctor, George Phiri has confirmed that both midfielder Enock Mwepu and striker Evans Kangwa will not be part of the team that plays Equatorial Guinea on Thursday.
For Mwepu, he has been ruled out from both encounters while Kangwa is in a race for fitness to make it for the second game to be played at Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
“The Players are generally fit and they are doing fine expect for the two players, Enock Mwepu has been ruled out of this game he suffered a groin injury and is unable to patriciate in both this away and home game against Equatorial Guinea,” Phiri said.
He said there is an indication that Kangwa may make it for the home game on Sunday.
“On Kangwa he has reported in camp but he suffered a minor injury and we are working on him. He might not be ready for this game but for sure he will be ready for the home game in Lusaka. At the moment he is on light training and we are managing him accordingly, the rest of the players are sound and fit,” Phiri said.
Zambia are looking to recover from the 2 – 0 loss they suffered to leaders Tunisia last month.
