AFTER a failed spell in South Africa, Chipolopolo striker Justin Shonga has gone to try his luck in North Africa he has signed a three year deal with Egyptian side Ismaily SC.
In 2017, Justin Shonga arrived in Soweto with a good reputation having been on song for the Zambia National team and his parent club Nkwazi.
After initially showing his brilliance in his formative days in South Africa, the Chipolopolo striker struggled to hold his claim at Pirates leading him to be shipped out of the club.
A three months unsuccessful stint followed at TTM, before he left the club to go and join Cape Town City.
At City, it was thought that he would redeem his career which had been threatened by off – the field antics but that did not happen as the player was released six months into his three-year deal.
At the start of the season, he attempted to join compatriot Augustine Mulenga at Ama Zulu but the deal fell through after he failed a trail.
In the end, his record in South Africa stands at 97 matches played in all competitions with 17 goals to his name.
He has since trekked to Egypt with the aim of rediscovering his form.
“Congratulations to our client @JustinShonga for securing a three year contract with @Ismailyofficial in the Egyptian Premier League,” Shonga’s management team P Management Sports posted on their twitter page.
Shonga will be hoping to be the first Zambian in recent years to shine in Egypt after failed attempts by Emmanuel Mayuka and Clatous Chama.
Zambian players have recently failed to make a grade in North Africa.
Ismaily finished last season 13th with 38 points, surviving relegation by eight points
