A concerned resident in Kasempa Davy Mufwaya has called on relevant authorities to work on the Kaimbwe Nyoka road.
Mr. Mufwaya revealed in an interview that the road is in a deplorable state hence the need to consider working on it.
He said it is difficult for people in the area to transport their goods to and from Kaimbwe and Nyoka due to the state of the road.
He said area is known to be a grain basket of the district though the residents feel disadvantaged and fail to produce more due to the state of the road.
“With the onset of the rains, it is very difficult for farmers to transport the farm inputs because of the state of the road. That is why we are appealing to the powers that be to work on the road,” he said.
He has called on Kasempa member of Parliament Brenda Tambatamba and Kasempa Council Chairperson Brian Kakonkanya to facilitate for the rehabilitation of the road.
He also called on government to expedite the process of paying farmers who supplied their maize to the Food Reserve Agency ( FRA ) in the last crop marketing season.
He said farmers are depending on the money which has been withheld by the agency to purchase farm inputs for this farming season.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kakonkanya has assured the people that the local authority will work on the road in its 2022 council budget.
Mr. Kakonkanya has advised residents to be calm as the rehabilitation of roads in the district is one of the capital projects to be undertaken next year.
He said the local authority is aware of the state of not just the Kaimbwe Nyoka road but even other feeder roads in the district.
“So, all the feeder roads have been earmarked for rehabilitation, therefore people should not panic,” he said.
