The eleven suspected United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres who where arrested and detained in connection with the killing of North western province Patriotic Front chairman Jackson Kungo have appeared before the Solwezi magistrate’s court.

The late Mr. Kungo was murdered in cold blood on poll day after being suspected of carrying pre-marketed ballot papers at Kyawama polling station in Solwezi.

North western province Deputy Commissioner of police Dr. Fred Mulenga confirmed the development in s statement.

“The eleven suspected UPND cadres have appeared before the Solwezi magistrate’s court in connection with the killing of Mr. Kungo,” said Dr. Mulenga.

Dr. Mulenga however declined to mention the names of the suspects.

He mentioned that the matter has since been adjourned to November 5 2021 for mention.
