Government says it is committed to empowering the youth with jobs through job creation.

Speaking during a Courtesy call paid by Higer Bus Zambia Limited Management in her office today, Ms. Tambatamba said that the ministry acknowledges the significance that the company has placed on matters empowering youth and how they have sustained the company du ring the COVID-19 outbreak living many youths jobless.

Ms. Tambatamba was elated that the company has 100 employees with only 10 being foreign nationals and 20 Zambians that are in Management positions with none of them employees being fired from the outbreak of the virus till date.

She further said that her ministry working under the New Dawn Administration is keen to providing a conducive working environment for both employers and employees by forging cooperation in the areas of employment adding that the Ministry is ready to partner with company on their youth empowerment programs for continued job creation.

Ms. Tambatamba has also appealed to Labour and Immigration officers not intimidate foreign nationals when conducting inspections but instead to engage and provide guidance whenever and wherever there are problems.

She added that any officer working outside the confines of the law towards foreign nationals will not be tolerated as everyone should be treated with respect and dignity.

Meanwhile, General Manager for the Company Wu Ming says the company believes in harmonious working environment where both employees and employers will do everything possible to support the New Dawn Government Labour policies.

He narrated that despite the harsh economic environment that the country experienced in the last quarter, the company has maintained a steady number of employees with the hope that the situation would improve.

Mr. Wu Ming pledged that the company will continue conducting business and contributing towards the country’s labour force within the confines of the law and with the support of the Ministry.
