The two where apprehended yesterday (Tuesday) along Ben Bella Road as they where suspected to be collecting money from unsuspecting traders trading along the road.
Kabwe Chongo, of George township was impersonating a Council Police officer with a replica Council Police uniform while Bernard Mwemba, 28, of Chawama township was apprehended for interfering with Council duties.
LCC public relations officer Mwaka Nakweti warned those impersonating and interfering with council duties to desist from doing so as they will be fished out and dealt with in accordance with the law.
“Traders and members of the public should therefore be on high alert against people who are pretending to be council officers,” Ms. Nakweti said.
She urged traders and the public to report suspected non Council cashiers and Council Police to Lusaka City Council or the nearest Police Station.
Ms Nakweti said the two have since been surrendered to Zambia Police for further investigation.
