LCC TASKS ADVERTISING AGENCIES TO CONDUCT INTEGRITY TEST ON THEIR BILLBOARDS

ALLIANCE Media have brought down a bill board at Munali round about which was discovered to have wobbled base plates arising from the heavy winds experienced during the heavy down pour.

This was after the Lusaka City Council (LCC) tasked advertising agencies to conduct an integrity audit on all their installations to ensure that they are stable and meet engineering standards following the rains that saw the collapse of several bill boards on Wednesday last week.

LCC Assistant Director Engineering Services Arnold Changwe said subsequent to instruction Alliance Media had brought down a bill board at Munali round about which was discovered to have wobbled base plates arising from the heavy winds experienced during the heavy down pour.

Mr. Changwe challenged other advertising agents to move in quickly and remove all bill boards that are not sturdy.

“The local authority having intensified inspections on advertising installations in the city will not hesitate to bring down bill boards that will be found not to be in good standing,” he said.

Mr. Changwe said advertising agencies should enhance their maintenance systems to avert calamities.

Alliance Media business development Manager Derick Balengu said the company had conducted structural integrity checks on all their bill boards following the directive by the local authority.

Mr. Balengu said during their inspections they discovered that one of their billboards at Munali was defective and removed immediately in the interest of public safety.

This is according to a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday by LCC public relations manager Mwaka Nakweti.
