A K700,000 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) financed project for the construction of a water reticulation system at Kamirenda Primary School_

Luanshya Municipal Council has signed a K700, 000 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) financed contract with DCK General Contractor Limited for the construction of a water reticulation system and sinking of a borehole at Kamirenda Primary School.

Luanshya Town Clerk, Sombo Kaela and Head of Procurement, Martha Nyirenda signed for the municipality while DCK General Contracttor Limited Managing Director, Richard Kunda and Director of Administration, Akenda Kunda signed for the contractor, at a ceremony held at Luanshya Civic Centre.

Speaking shortly after the signing ceremony, Ms Kaela urged the contractor to adhere to the contract specifications and the set period for the execution of the project.

Ms expressed optimism that the execution of the project would address the erratic water supply to Kamirenda Primary School and enable the municipality to replace the Ventilated Improved Pit (VIP) latrines, whose continued usage is now discouraged by the government for health reasons.

Meanwhile, Mr Kunda said his company was ready to mobilise equipment and move on site by mid-next week.

According to the contract, the contractor is expected to execute the project within a period of fifteen weeks.

The government has directed school authorities to ensure that all learning institutions should uninterrupted water supply and flushable toilets in order to create an enabling learning environment for the learners.
