While giving the daily Corona virus (COVID-19) update, Health Minister Sylvia Masebo said 90 new confirmed cases out of the 6,983 tests conducted were detected in the previous 24 hours representing one per cent overall national positivity.

Ms. Masebo said the cumulative number of COVID-19 confirmed cases recorded to date now stood at 209,002.

One new death was recorded in the last 24 hours preceding yesterday, from the Copperbelt province bringing the cumulative number of COVID-19 related deaths recorded to date to 3,648, classified as 2,732 COVID-19 deaths and 916 associated deaths.

“We currently have 478 active cases (up from 418 reported yesterday) under either admission to an isolation facility or home management for those who are asymptomatic and/or low risk,” Ms. Masebo said.

She said only one new admission from Northern province was documented in the previous 24 hours, and conversely one discharge made from Northern province also.

Ms. Masebo said currently 24 patients were admitted, with the majority being in North-western with nine cases while Lusaka accounted for seven admissions.

Of the 24 admitted, 14 were on Oxygen therapy and eight in critical condition.

On the COVID-19 vaccines, Ms. Masebo said the ministry administered 4,006 doses of Johnson and Johnson, 1,393 Dose one and 3,470 Dose two AstraZeneca and 127 Doses of Sinopharm bringing the cumulative number of doses administered to date to 720,260.
