The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board has awarded student loans to 333 first year students at Mulungushi University in the second selection for the 2021/2022 academic year.
Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board Corporate Communications Officer CHISELWA KAWANDA says the students are from the 4,030 first years that were not considered during the first selection due to budgetary constraints.
Ms. KAWANDA says this brings total number of first year students to be supported at Mulungushi University to 1,161 for the 2021/2022 academic year.
She says only 2017 school leavers with 7 to 12 points and 2018 school leavers with 7 to 10 points have been considered under the second selection.
Ms. KAWANDA says all the students living with disabilities were considered during the first selection.
She said in a statement that the students will be supported at a cost of 9-million kwacha to be raised from loan recoveries.
