UPND National Youth Chairman Gilbert Liswaniso has urged youths in Mushindamo District to take an active role in the economic activities of the country.
Mr. Liswaniso said the New Dawn administration has created a conducive business environment for all to benefit through various business platforms among them cooperatives.
He said this is the reason why President Hakainde Hichilema has created a ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises Development.
He said if youths positioned themselves strategically they stand to benefit from governments policy of taking resources to the constituencies.
“The onus is now upon each of us especially the youths to see how we can contribute to the economic development of the country by participating in economic activities,” said Mr. Liswaniso.
The national youth leader said this when he paid a courtesy call on Mushindamo District Commissioner Andrew Kalangwa and Mushindamo Town council chairperson Peter Ilunga on Sunday.
He said President Hichilema’s administration is bent on changing the mindset of youths who got used hand outs for their survival.
He said Mushindamo district being a new district and neighboring with the Democratic Republic of Congo has a lot of potential in economic activities.
Mr. Liswaniso also cautioned against being unruly to the party leadership.
He said the ruling party is founded on discipline and that he will not take kindly any youth who may be found wanting.
“Let me also take this opportunity to advise our youths to always defend the party at all cost because we are being attacked left, right center,” he said.
And Mr. Ilunga told Mr. Liswaniso that the district is poised to develop fast both economically and socially due to its geographical position.
“And we only hope that our people will take advantage of that so that they benefit from these economic activities,” he said.
