Advocates For National Development And Democracy (ANDD) Executive Director, Samuel Banda has called on the UPND government to profoundly uphold christian values as they govern the country.
Mr Banda has since appealed to each and every Zambian to support the leadership of the day, and work together despite different ideologies, for the greater good of the nation.
He said in a statement to observe the national day of prayer, fasting and reconciliation.
He said as the country emerges from a political transition, there is need for everyone of to use this very important day to promote reconciliation and forgiveness.
“We would therefore like to urge every citizen to take this time to pray for our country and its leaders. Let us pray for our leaders so God may give them guidance and wisdom in the dispensing of their duties” he further said.
And Mr Banda has honoured former president Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu for being bold and magnanimous enough to declare a day of national prayers and reconciliation.
Mr Banda notes that this decision demonstrated that the former head of state truly believed in Zambia as a Christian nation.
“This is a very important day for our country. A day when we put aside all our differences and focus on our country’s needs and aspirations” Mr Banda said in a statement.
