Ndola Mayor Jones Kalyati has disclosed that his team is actively on the ground rectifying the issue of poor drainage systems around the central business district (CBD).
Mr. Kalyati acknowledged that the council is aware of the various places that have blocked drainages.
This is in response to some residents who expressed concern over the number of blocked drainage systems in the city.
They observed that the onset of the rainy season had already started exposing poor sanitation systems, as evidenced by stagnant water which is as a result of the down pour experienced lately.
They said this poses a health risk as the water could easily become a breeding ground for various waterborne diseases.
The Ndola Mayor has since appealed to residents to work together with the local authority in fighting floods during this rainy season.
He said the situation requires a concerted effort in order to be arrested, hence calling on residents to also play their part by taking care of the drainage systems.
