Former Mufumbwe Member of Parliament Steven Masumba says the visit of high profile global leaders such the former British Prime Minister Tony Blair is a clear indication that Zambia is now being recognised internationally.
Mr. Masumba said in an interview that the development is as a result of the President Hakainde Hichilema’s success in the August 12th polls.
He stated that the current leadership is credible and inspiring international confidence.
Mr. Masumba said for the very first time, the American president Joe Biden applauded the Zambia people especially the youths for making a good decision by voting Mr. Hichilema.
He said the Zambian people made such a decision because they never wanted the previous regime to continue with its malpractice, the thuggery behavior and many other atrocities it inflicted on the citizens.
“But because the current leadership has shown the world that things can be done in a different way, that is why we are now seeing such visits, international invitations and other things,” said Mr, Masumba.
He mentioned that the coming of Mr. Blair into the country is not just to meet the president for personal benefits but for the benefit of the entire country.
“And you know such visits are rare, is it is something of great importance to the country,” he said.
On the President’s visit to US, Mr. Masumba said the President’s central focus is economic recovery which can only happen when the country creates an environment where investors feel their investment is safe.
He said the previous regime shredded the economy because investors lost confidence in it.
“So, his visit was well thought of and very soon, Zambia will start seeing its benefits,” he said.
He called on Zambians to give chance to the new dawn government so that I can implement its policies.
