THE North Western Development Council of Elders has congratulated president elect Hakainde Hichilema on his resounding victory in the just ended general election.
Organisation secretary Kenneth Kapata said in an interview that the organisation is happy that the Zambian people have elected a leader of their choice. Mr. Kapata said his organisation has high expectations from the new government among them to improve the country’s economy.
“As an organisation, we would like to congratulate President-elect Hakainde Hichilema and all Members of Parliament especially those from North western province,” he said.
He said the organisation further expect the new government to respect the rule of law and not allow lawlessness especially among political cadres.
“we also want to see equitable sharing of national resources and distribution of development to all parts of the country without segregation,” he said.
And Mr. Kapata has advised the people celebrating the UPND victory to do so without destroying property. He said looting and destroying of property is detrimental to development.
“it is therefore our appeal to the UPND to talk to their people especially the youths to stop destroying of properties,” he said.
