Police in Solwezi have arrested and detained Patriotic Front Northwestern province vice-chairman Friday Mulemfwe for threatening violence.

According to a police statement issued by commissioner Joe Njase, Mr. Mulemfwe 60 of House No 1295 Mitec area threatened to kill Rodgers Tangaika aged 40 of Cheshire compound with his River pistol serial No B686148.

Mr. Njase disclosed that this happened after a confrontation over the death of the late PF provincial chairman Jackson Kungo.

“This led Mr. Mulemfwe to produce a pistol loaded with one round of ammunition and point. Tangaika with a view to shoot him,” said Mr. Njase.

He said the pistol has been confiscated from the suspect and it was found loaded with one round of ammunition serial No B686148 and a spare of magazine loaded with 14 rounds of 9 millimeter ammunition.

“Another 15 rounds of 9 millimeter ammunition was recovered from his vehicle Toyota Land cruiser registration number BAJ 3421,” he said

He said the suspect has been arrested and charged for the offence of threatening violence and will appear in court soon.

And in Zambezi, police have retrieved a body of unidentified man which was found floating in Zambezi river.

Mr. Njase disclosed that on Saturday, police received a report from Sakayeye Sampasa a councillor for Chitokoloki ward that there was a dead body floating in Zambezi River between Kayula and Kakong’a near Samilimo village.

“The scene was visited and the deceased was found floating in a decomposed state without legs,” he said.

He disclosed that physical inspection revealed that the legs where cut by a suspected crocodile as tooth wounds were observed on the body.

“And due to the bad state of the deceased body, the remains have been buried in a shallow grave between Zambezi river and Chinjenge stream in Kayula area,” he said.
