Phiri was in impressive form at the tournament which were held at NIPA in Lusaka where he finished the event unbeaten and only drawing one match.
Play on Board Two in Round One, Phiri beat Kelvin Mukuwa before seeing off Terence Chasaya Kennedy Kanyoka in Rounds Two and Three respectively.
In Round Four, Judah Simulundu was the next victim to fall prey to Phiri before out witting James Chibuye in Round Six.
In Round Seven, Phiri met his match playing to a stalemate against fellow IM Stanely Chumfwa before wrapping it up with wins over Fide Master (FM) Douglas Munenga and Candidate Master (CM) Godwin Phiri.
In the Women section, Lubuuto Bwalya was crowned the champions after she finished the event with 6.5 points to fend off competition from closes rival Constance Mbatha.
