Police in Mufumbwe have intercepted a light truck container loaded with 250×50 kilogram bags of fertilizer believed to be unlawfully obtained.
According to North Western Province Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Fred Mulenga, the truck was impounded yesterday around 14 hours in Kashima West after a tip off from members of the public.
“This Tata truck with registration number BCC 7432 belongs to Mansa Sugar was being driven by Mulenga Lupupa 37 of Kitwe’s Kabala compound and loaded with 110×50 D-compound and 140×50 kilogram bags of Urea was coming from Manyinga district,” said Dr. Mulenga.
He said after the truck was impounded, it was then driven to Mufumbwe police station where the owner of the Fertilizer in question came to be known as 61 year old retired Zambia National Service (ZNS) Staff Sergeant Mwewa Isaac of new Fairview, Kapiri Mposhi.
“The suspect has since been arrested and charged for being in possession of property believed to be unlawfully obtained,” he said.
