Struggling Super League side Power Dynamos have fired chairman Bbenkele Hachitwe following a dismal start to the season.

Power have endured an unwelcome start to life in the Super League this season with the team having failed to win a single match in their opening three games.

The run of results has seen sponsors CEC ringing changed with the chairman being the biggest casualty.

In a statement availed to the media on Friday, CEC managing direct Owen Silavwe directed the new team to revive the team.

“The Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC), sponsor of Power Dynamos Football Club, has undertaken a re-organisation of the Club’s executive management committee, with the ultimate intent of revitalizing the team, whose performance has for some time now been lacklustre.

“The re-organization entails withdrawing the services of most of the members of the current executive management committee, effective Saturday, 25 September 2021, and bringing in fresh members to carry forward the vision and aspirations of the sponsor, the Club and its supporters.

“The Club’s new leadership team will be headed by Mr. Alpha Mwale as Chairman, supported by new entrants, Mr. Ferdinand Menzu as Vice Chairman, Mr. Brian Chishimba, Mr. Masauso Lungu, Mr. George Pande and Mr. Reuben Munungwe, alongside Mr. James Sakala and Ms. Muntanga Sibalwa who have been retained from the out-going executive to continue as committee members,” the statement read in part.

Silavwe told the new team to halt the current collapse of the team.

“Power Dynamos has epitomized Zambian football success and in such a historic year as this one, celebrating the Club’s 50 years of existence, it is imperative that the Club’s leadership pursues a trajectory clearly aimed at restoring the Club to its more stellar accomplishments so that they don’t only remain in bygone history,” he said.
