AFTER failing to collect a win in their opening six games, Power Dynamos on Saturday managed to pick their first victory of the season following a 1-0 win over Lusaka Dynamos.
Power started their season on the back-foot but had something to smile about thanks to a referee Shem Nyondo who made a controversial and awarded them a penalty that was not.
Power got the lead in the 36th minute when Godfrey Ngwenya scored a penalty which was awarded after striker Kennedy Musonda was hacked by Makabaniso Magenge.
The Kitwe side defended for dear life throughout the match to ensure they win their match in front of home fans.
The win came as a delight for new Power Coach Mwenya Chipepo.
“It was a win for the boys. We have to keep working hard because football is about hard work and that is what we require from the boys,” Chipepo said.
Before Chipepo was appointed, not won a match in their opening six games.
Power opened the season with four straight losses 1-0 to Konkola Blades before 2-1 defeats to Green Eagles, Forest Rangers and Prison Leopards.
They then showed some signs of life in their scoreless draw against Buildcon and Kafue Celtic.
