Stakeholders in Manyinga district of North Western province have applauded government over the plans to reconstruct rural roads in the area.

Manyinga Stakeholders Association chairman Patrick Kamboyi said in an interview that the plans by government gives hope to rural districts like Manyinga which are in dare need of infrastructure development.

“With this announcement, we expect a lot of infrastructure development in our district especially the much talked about manyinga-mwinilunga road,” he said.

Mr Kamboyi said rural roads like the manyinga- mwinilunga road will not only boost business and bring in economic development to the district, but also open up trade links among other districts and neighboring countries.

“When the manyinga-mwinilunga road is worked on, we shall open-up trade linkages with Mwinilunga,Zambezi,Kalumbila,Kabompo,Chavuma and Lukulu district in western province and neighboring Angola among otherĀ  trade linkages,” Mr Kamboyi said.

Recently, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Minister Charles Milupi disclosed that the World Bank has agreed to finance construction of rural roads in all the 10 provinces under the Two Hundred Million Improved rural connectivity road project -IRCP.

Mr. Milupi stated that the Bank will provide funding to the road project whose objective is to improve road accessibility for rural communities in selected parts of the country.
