Local artiste and businessman Plight Intellect has said musicians must stop dwelling on the narrative that there is no money in music arguing that the opposite is true.
Featuring on ‘Getting Candid with Hellen’ a YouTube weekly show presented by renowned media personality and former ZNBC staffer Hellen Zulu Phiri aka Yo Gal Hellen, Plight said as an artiste, he wants to do things differently as there have been a lot of mistakes witnessed in the music industry in the past.
“I have seen a number of mistakes and personally, I like to do certain things differently,” he says.
“There’s this negative narrative that there is no money in music. In the first place, that is wrong.
There is money in the industry.”
He said artistes need to find ways in attracting the attention of corporate entities as they each have a marketing budget which they can benefit from. Plight said this is especially possible if artistes learn to add more value to their work and learn to set standards for themselves.
“ Music and entertainment need to tap into the corporate entities marketing budgets. Content creators, for example must have a direct link to the corporate entities. We need to create value to our work and exchange that value for money,” he said insisting that most artistes think from a shallow perceptive.
“Add value to your art,” he said.
Plight also announced that he is working on a latest single that is yet to be released next week dubbed ‘ I want You.’
