ZAMBIA’S race for a first ever World Cup qualification has ended following the team’s 1-all draw against Equatorial Guinea at Heroes Stadium on Sunday.

Zambia played all the football but the spoils were shared with Frederico Nchama cancelling a Fashion Sakala goal and dump Zambia out of the race.

The team was looking to remain in the hunt but needed a win to make that happen. This result now ends all mathematical chances of the team to be in the race.

Coach Beston Chambeshi regretted the result.

“The boys played a good game we started well we created a lot of chances if we converted more the story would have been turned around, Chambeshi said “We wanted to win this game so match we wanted goal on the first half second half we came in strong good enough we came back and scored a goal,”

Chambishi said the team played for a win

“This is not the result that we wanted. We have seen the team is coming up I have seen the boys if I can stay with them for some time we can build a team to reckon with,” he said.

After a scoreless first half Zambia scored the opener in the 63rd minute but all that counted for nothing after Nchama headed in a corner nine minutes from time.
