IT seems the international break is all ZESCO United needed to bounce back to winning ways after their shock defeat to Kafue Celtic earlier this month.
The defending champions have responded with 2 – 0 win over struggling Kabwe Warriors, a result that has sent the Ndola side into the top four.
Warriors hosted ZESCO in a Week 2 rescheduled match at Railways Stadium in Wednesday with goals from Solomon Sakala and Jesse Were enough to hand the champions their third win of the season.
The win is what coach Mumamba Numba needed as the team last played to a shocking loss at the hands of youthful Kafue Celtic in Lusaka.
Sakala put the ball beyond Warriors keeper Scot Ngokene in the 54th minute, 20 minutes before Were doubled the advantage to ensure they leave for Ndola with three points.
Warriors will now have to look to the weekend if they are to pick a result and leave the relegation zone, a place they have been confined to since the start of the season.
ZESCO are now fourth with nine points, seven behind leaders Green Buffaloes while Warriors 16th with four points.
