Lusaka, June 11, 2024 — A significant milestone in diplomatic relations was celebrated as Ms. Etambuyu Anamela Gundersen, Permanent Secretary of International Relations and Cooperation, presided over the joint launch of a new logo marking 60 years of diplomatic ties between India and Zambia. The event, held in Lusaka, saw Ms. Gundersen and His Excellency Mr. Ashok Kumar, High Commissioner of the Republic of India to Zambia, unveil the logo in a ceremony organized by the Indian Mission.

 

In her speech, Ms. Gundersen highlighted the enduring and amicable relations between the two nations, built on a foundation of shared values like liberty, democracy, and good governance. She expressed sincere gratitude for India’s ongoing support and technical assistance in various sectors, while also calling on Indian investors to explore opportunities in Zambia’s agriculture, mining, and manufacturing industries.

 

Echoing the sentiment, High Commissioner Kumar praised the robust bilateral relations that have flourished over the decades. He announced that the Indian community in Zambia, along with socio-cultural organizations and friends of India, supported by the Zambian government, will host a series of events to commemorate this historic milestone in their diplomatic journey.
