Police in Solwezi have confiscated a Toyota Land Cruiser white in colour belonging to the Patriotic Front.
The vehicle is allegedly to have been dubiously obtained according to a statement issued by North Western Province Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Fred Mulenga.
Dr. Mulenga revealed that the vehicle was found parked at the residence of PF North Western Provincial Youth Chairman Amnion Hara in Stadium area.
“The registration number for the said vehicle is BAD 3575 with Chassis number JTELV71JX00012926,” said Dr. Mulenga.
Dr. Mulenga further revealed that police have recovered the shell of a PF branded Land Cruiser which was involved in a road accident.
He said the vehicle was parked at a named garage in Solwezi without an engine as well as other parts.
“After investigations, the engine and other parts of the vehicle were found at Mr. Hara’s residence and they are yet to be retrieved,” he said.
He further revealed that Zambia Police conducted a search with the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) for both motor vehicles, it was revealed that both vehicles are not in the system and investigations have been instituted.
He further revealed that police have arrested a PF member Castro Kaumba kavwandula, following a Road Traffic Accident that occurred on 1st April 2021.
He said the suspect has been charged with traffic offences which include dangerous driving, driving uninsured motor vehicle and unlicensed driver.
“The vehicle which was moved from the scene of accident has since been taken at the police station to be examined,” he said.
