THE Teaching Service Commission (TCZ) has advised all teachers who graduated, registered and applied for practicing certificates before and within 2019 to have them renewed.
TCZ registrar Ebby Mubanga said the affected teachers whose certificates will expire on December 31,this year had up to January 2nd , 2022 to have their practicing certificates renewed.
Dr. Mubanga said in a statement yesterday that any teacher that would be found teaching without a certificate risk being prosecuted in pursuant with the Teaching Professions Act.
He said the commission had waived the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credit points for renewal of practicing certificates.
“Requirements for renewal of practicing certificates include 150 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credit points however due to delay in tracking all the teachers and institutions in the entire country, which programme is also designed to add up individual teachers CPD credit point, it was resolved by stakeholders that we waive it,” he said.
Dr. Mubanga said the decision to waive off the requirement for CPD credit points for renewal was arrived at during a stakeholder meeting held on November 5, this month in Lusaka.
He said the requirement would however be reinstated for those that graduated, registered and applied for practicing certificates and would be renewing their certificates in 2022.
Dr. Mubanga advised school administrations that no teacher should be allowed to have an interface with learners without a certificate.
