Chisamba Town council Public Relations Officer Nakubiana Shabongo said the Chisamba Constituency Development Fund Committee CDFC settled for 270 applications which were sent to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development of which, 98 are female while 172 are male.
She said this was done following an approval by Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development recently after scrutiny by the Chisamba Constituency Development Fund Committee CDFC at the Chisamba Civic Centre in Chisamba District.
She noted that the Committee received 294 applications from various institutions of learning out of which 270 students were selected.
Ms. Shabongo said the Ministry further reduced the number to 264 for failing to meet necessary requirements.
She said Some applications were rejected because they did not meet requirements highlighted in the CDF guidelines.
She stated that Some of the reasons the applications were declined include lack of acceptance letters and being over age among others.
She added that the local authority is also sponsoring 111 pupils under the secondary school bursaries amounting to K 120, 898.00 through the 2022 CDF allocation following approval from the Ministry Of Local Government and Rural Development in 16 secondary schools.
