… _After consuming donated cabbage contaminated with traces of a suspected pesticide_

Several students at David Kaunda (DK) Secondary School in Lusaka have reportedly developed diarrhoea and vomiting after consuming cabbage suspected to be contaminated with a pesticide.

Parents, who requested anonymity, disclosed that the donated cabbages had been treated with pesticides, which they believe caused the students to fall ill.

“This is very unfortunate because most parents were not informed about this incident. All our school WhatsApp groups are quiet, and we have no idea what is going on. If it wasn’t for another parent, I wouldn’t have known about this situation. The school should have informed all parents instead of keeping quiet. I am not happy about this,” one parent said.

By the time of publication, New Zambia staff reporters were unable to reach the school for a comment as calls to the school’s phones (021 1254170) went unanswered.
