President Hakainde Hichilema arrived in Mushindamo district of North Western Province on a one day working visit.
The head of state met traditional leaders and inspected some developmental projects.
He is also expected to drum support for the UPND candidate for the Kalilele local government by election.
The by election was necessitated by the demise of the UPND candidate Elizabeth Sachiwanu prior to the August 12 general election.
Four candidates are battling it out for the seat, among them, UPND’s Gladys Kashimoto, PF’s Wamunyima Likando, Democratic Party’s Dyness Kabunda and Patrick Mwewa as independent.
And the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has set October 21 as poll day.
