A 16 year old boy has died while two others are nursing injuries after being struck by lightening in Solwezi District.
According to North Western Province Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Fred Mulenga, the sad incident happened on Friday around 15 hours in Kipemba area and identified the deceased as Dickson Shamalenge while those nursing injuries as Barbra Chalilye and Erita Musondaaged 14 and 24 respectively.
Dr. Mulenga said the incident was reported by John Kolala aged 57 that his house was struck by lightening thereby killing his grandson.
He however mentioned that the condition for other two is stable while the remains of the deceased have been deposited in Solwezi general hospital mortuary awaiting burial.
Meanwhile, a 24 year old man of Ikelenge has committed suicide by taking herbicides after a quarrel during a drinking spree.
Dr. Mulenga said the incident happened on Thursday around 19 hours and identified the deceased as Billy Samuheha of Kameya village.
He said the deceased is said to have picked a quarrel with friends at a bar and later went home and took the chemical which led to his death.
He said the deceased was rushed to Ikelenge clinic but that he was referred to Kalene Mission Hospital where he eventually died from the following day.
