Lusaka City Mayor Her Worship Ms. Chilando Chitangala has applauded the Lusaka Provincial Health Office (PHO) for holding the Keep Zambia Clean Green and Health Campaigns in hospitals in the District.
The Lusaka PHO organized the Keep Zambia Clean Green and Health Activities Chipata General Hospital and Kanyama West Clinic this morning.
In a speech read on her behalf by Libala Ward 7 Councilor Chabo Kyalusanza, the Lusaka Mayor said this was the first time the campaign activities were held in a hospital.
“From the time the Keep Zambia Clean Green and Health Campaign was initiated, this is the first time that it’s been held in a hospital in the district” she said.
Ms. Chitangala said the Local Authority has been spearheading the Keep Zambia Clean Green and activities in the district.
She lamented the lack of resources and low participation by members of the public in the campaign which hampered the success of the operation.
The Mayor has since expressed gratitude to the Lusaka Provincial Health Office for organizing such an important event that will help keep the environment of the two health facilities cleaner, greener and healthier.
And Lusaka Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Robert Kamalata in a speech read on his behalf by Lusaka District Administrative Officer, Mrs. Maureen Chilende has expressed gratitude for the coming together of PHO, Lusaka City Council, NEMCHEM, Health facility and the community in cleaning Chipata General Hospital
He has since advised that the undertaking should be conducted on a regular basis in all health facilities in order to keep the hospitals safe for the general public and health care workers.
