FORMER Kasama Central Member of Parliament Kelvin Sampa has with immediate effect resigned from the opposition Patriotic Front (PF) and feels that he has been vindicated over the issue of carderism in markets and bus stations.
Mr. Sampa who is also former PF National Youth chairperson said he decided to resign from the PF because he wanted to focus on his family and his personal businesses and that he had no intentions to defect to another political party.
He said in an interview yesterday that he was saddened that the PF never took him seriously when he raised concerns on the issue of carderism and the youth taking over the running of markets and bus stations when he was appointed as PF national youth chairperson.
“First and foremost at least I am vindicated from the things that I would always talk about when I was appointed as National Youth chairperson, issues of carderism are the things that I would talk about but my party never took it seriously so this is what has mainly cost the PF because people were afraid and tired,” Mr. Sampa said.
He said it was unfortunate that the PF youth in Lusaka rose against him when he took the route to stop carderism which had taken a toll in the two public facilities.
Mr. Sampa however urged the new Government to continue with youth cooperatives to empower the young men and women being removed from bus stations and markets with livelihood activities to avoid creating another ‘thuggery’ wing.
He said he would however continue rendering his support to the people of Kasama, the civic leaders as well as traditional leadership.
Mr. Sampa thanked the former President Edgar Lungu and the people of Kasama for according him chance to serve as Member of Parliament.
