TAMARA Ngozi Nyirongo, daughter to the late legendary Zambian music icon Paul Ngozi Nyirongo has said Zambian artistes have done well so far with music videos but need more effort to have their music promoted.
Based in the USA, Tamara, a former Zambian envoy to the Big Brother Africa House, an entrepreneur and artiste says a lot needs to be done in the area of music promotion.
“No matter how good you cook, your neighbours will never know until you open the windows and let that aroma blow in their direction. Promoters should be bold enough to promote Zambian art to the rest of the world,” she said in an interview.
“We shouldn’t be satisfied with performing in all the provinces. But that also means that musicians should put in the work. You can’t have a computer and mic in your small “studio” making music to be played in bars. We have a tendency to rush things, cranking out a forgettable song every week. Good music takes time. Put in the work.”
Tamara is planning to do more things to push her wide artistic career.
“I’m thinking of doing more music as I have a lot of things to talk about. I’m thinking of opening a paint gallery as I have interesting art ideas. I’m planning on opening a dance studio something that needs no introduction to many. I have plans of expanding my clothing line and hopefully the next stop will be New York fashion week. I have many business endeavours too including inventing some gadgets. “
