UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) Party Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has thanked the President, Hakainde Hichilema for appointing him as Minister of Southern Province.
Mr. Mweetwa says that the President Hichilema has scored by bringing everyone on the table in line with an electoral pledge to birth a government of inclusivity.
Mr. Mweetwa says the UPND Alliance Government will continue to function, throughout all party structures in Zambia.
“I urge the youth not to feel alienated and that the leaders are readily accessible.
I acknowledge the anxiety that had gripped the nation for the Cabinet to be unveiled has now been responded too, as all positions in government are now filled. From the completion of the announcement of cabinet one thing has come out clear, that President Hichilema has shown and mirrored all the 10 provinces as reflected in appointments made thus far. HH has kept his word, and walked the talk. We believe, Mr. Hakainde has satisfied the promise to deliver on the promises made ahead of the Thursday 12th August, 2021 Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government election, and urge people of Zambia to maintain a checklist.”
Mr. Mweetwa stressed : “You can now take the check list and begin to mark him in the management of governance issues. This cabinet is not about an individual as it is built on representation of the youths and all interest groups in Zambia, who participate at the highest level of governance”.
Mr. Mweetwa reiterated that all regions have been represented and appointments have not been based on friendship or acquaintances.
Speaking at the media briefing in Lusaka today Mr. Mweetwa now serving as Southern Province Minister said: “President Hichilema has exhibited statesmanship to nominate members to full cabinet portfolios, despite not recording political success in Luapula and Muchinga Province. This brings togetherness as the UPND Alliance Government will embrace all leaders in Zambia. HH has Demonstrated magnanimity. On corruption, their will be no sacred cow and everyone will pay for a crime committed. We must stop entertaining the previous rogue government that had no respect for the rule of law”.
