UPND deputy National Chairperson for Women affairs Gladys Tavaris has advised PF Vice President Given Lubinda not to raise his hopes too high over his party’s chances of scooping the vacant Kabwata parliamentary seat saying the PF had its time which they misused.
Ms. Tavaris laughed off assertions by Mr. Lubinda suggesting that the people of Kabwata stand to benefit from the election of the PF candidate Clement Tembo, describing the 15 years of PF rule in Kabwata as a disaster.
She was speaking this morning when she addressed the Media at the UPND Lusaka District Office in Libala.
She said the people of Kabwata especially the women were currently enjoying the peace that allows them to carry out their business activities especially in markets undisturbed by political elements adding that the vote for UPND’s Andrew Tayengwa is a vote for continued peace and undisturbed trading activities.
The UPND leader said the New Dawn administration has achieved so much in its 4 months in power citing the increase in CDF allocations from K1.6 million to K25.7 million thus uplifting the living standards of the people Kabwata, the payment of arrears to retirees as well as the release of the Equalization Fund to all the 116 districts hence the need for the people of Kabwata to entrust their lives into the stewardship of a UPND MP.
She warned that the people of Kabwata risked having their CDF stolen if they voted for the PF’s Clement Tembo, adding that it was in public domain that some PF leaders were a clique of thieves who stole from Zambians during their 10-year tenure in public office.
Ms. Tavaris has since pledged to buy PF Chairman for Information and Publicity, Raphael Nakacinda 5 more binoculars so that he could see clearly the achievements of President Hakainde Hichilema and his administration in the past 4 months.
And on calls by Chiengi independent MP Given Katuta to the women of kabwata to boycott the elections,Ms said the PF’s bad style of leadership created a toxic political environment that has prompted women to shy away from aspiring for public office.
