Zambia Climate change Network ZCCN Executive Director Steve Nyirenda says Cop 27, which is starting next week, will provide an opportunity for Government and other Civil Society Organisations attending the conference to address numerous issues around climate change that the country has been facing.
Nyirenda says this will also be an opportunity to compel developed nations to honor their 100 billion United States dollars pledge made during the Paris agreement to the developing countries in a bid to deal with climate change adaptation and mitigation programs.
He told Journalists during a media meeting aimed at highlighting issues on COP 27 slated for November 6 2022 next week.
The ZCCN Executive director says Civil Society Organisations should speak out on the issues around financing as this is key in driving climate issues.
And Nyirenda says Zambia’s assent to Chair for African group of Negotiators for the next two years is a good opportunity to address the challenges the country has been facing around climate change.
The theme for this year COP 27 is Climate change adaptation and resilience .
