Crown Television has rendered an apology to Chawama Member of Parliament Tasila Lungu Mwansa for the wrong news item that was posted and aired on 15th September,2021.
The item alleged that Ms. Mwansa was being investigated over the alleged purchase of a bank for K300 Million.
Ms. Mwansa has sued the station together with three other people in connection with the same story.
The others are Simon Chitambala Mwewa, Jeff Mbewe and Mwamba Chikonka of The candidate as well as Davies Shachinda of Southern Classic Media.
According to the statement of Claim, Ms. Mwansa says the defendants went ahead and accused her despite the ACC having not named the person that they were investigation.
Oswald Yambani the director of operations at Crown TV said in a statement that, “Our news item did not in anyway mean she was behind the purchase, but merely stated that she was under investigations”
He said that it is worth noting that on the 16th of September,2021 the station carried a story that no councilor was behind the purchase of a bank after doing an independent investigation.
“We have realized that the mention that she was being investigated has brought discontent, hence taking this early opportunity to apologize to her” he said.
Mr. Yambani said Crown TV remains resolute to ensuring that it remains credible in execution of its duties.
